HACKETT, William (Bill) Ronald

Peacefully, on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Arbour Heights Long Term Care, in his 91st year. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois (nee Watson) in 2012, his parents William and Ada (nee Moncrief) Hackett and siblings Douglas, Stuart, Herbie, Laura and Ken. Bill is survived by his four children, Eleanor MacCallum, Ron (Karen Craig), Brian (Valerie, his special daughter-in-law) and Kimberly. Bill will be greatly missed by his treasured grandchildren, Mairead MacCallum, Brian Jr. (Julie Tolles), Brittany (David Marchand), Emily (Matt Lajeunesse) and great-granddaughter Evie. The family extends sincere gratitude to all of Bill’s caregivers at both The Rosewood and Arbour Heights for their kindness and exemplary care.
A Drive-up visitation will be held at the Reception Centre of the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Tuesday, February 2, between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. In consideration of Covid-19 protocols, parking lot attendants will ask that you remain in your vehicle when you offer your condolences to the family. No visiting or gathering in the parking lot is permitted.
The family will gather privately for the funeral service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, February 3 with Rev. Dr. Andrew Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Cataraqui Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Mr. Hackett’s memory.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
