Obituary
GILLESPIE, WILLIAM VERNON (VERN) Passed away peacefully on June 1, 2021, with family at his side, at Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 82. He leaves behind to grieve his children Joanne (Jo) Hunter (Leroy), Glenn (Robyn), and Bernie (Kathy). Grandchildren Jodi (James) and Lindsay (Craig), Great Grandchildren Tyler, Connor, Brady, Mady and Emma. Great-Great Grandchildren Myah and Owen. Dear brother of Wilma, Fred, Alan (Vera), Ray (Marjorie), Don (Debbie), Bill, and sister-in-law Deb. And many nieces and nephews. Vern was predeceased by his wife Barbara, his parents William and Marion, and his siblings Joyce, Phyllis, John, Brian and Paul. Special thank you to his Special Angels Mackezise, Alisha, and LeeAnne, the Trauma Team, and the Surge ICU at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, and the ICU unit at Toronto Western Hospital for the excellent, kind and gentle care Vern received. Vern led a very full life and made many friends along the way, including his best buddy Bernie Hunt, he will be remembered by all for his mischievous smile, and the twinkle in his eye.
Due to Covid-19 a Celebration of Vern’s life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the RVH Trauma, or Surge ICU units, or Toronto Western ICU unit.
