Obituary
William Thomas Howes went to be with the Lord at the age of 83, on November 8th, 2021, in Black Diamond, Alberta. Bill was born on December 27th, 1937, in Montreal. The son of Leslie and Elizabeth Jean Howes and the eldest of three brothers.
As a child Bill found that on some days school was not particularly enjoyable. This prompted him to aspire to become a teacher, he wanted other children to appreciate their school years more than he had. Bill went on to enjoy a teaching career that spanned nearly 50 years. He worked initially in Quebec including some time spent in remote northern communities, before moving to Bentley, Alberta in 1982, he continued teaching in central Alberta until his retirement in 2003.
Bill was a devoted husband and father, deeply thankful for his wife and children. He was a loving participant in the raising of his four daughters. Quick to play a game, sing a song, or take time to offer prayers and encouragement. Saturday morning breakfasts could involve conversation, prayer and Bible reading that lasted until almost lunch time.
Bill’s faith in Jesus was central to his life. He was an elder at Rimbey New Life Fellowship, he spent time most weeks visiting those in hospital, and he was always quick to share a word of friendship and encouragement, to share the love of Jesus in word and action with those around him.
Bill is survived by his wife Gisela, daughters and sons in law, Marcia and Brandon, Jessica and Andrae, Karen and Holger and Christina and John, and grandchildren, William, Charis, Thai, Phoebe, Nicholas, Winter, Ezra, Jonas, and Max.
