William Power
January 15, 1926 – December 17, 2021
Passed peacefully at 95 years of age on Friday, December 17th, 2021 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s.
Predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine Power (Goff); parents William and Elizabeth Power (Kirby); parents-in-law James and Margaret Goff (nee Keough); brother Cyril Power (Marie); sisters: Helen McCann (Mike), Kathleen Field (Hal) and Molly; brothers-in-law: Clarence Goff (Carmel), Desmond Goff (Pauline) and James Goff; and sister-in-law Mary Rogers (David).
Bill is remembered lovingly by his daughter Margaret Ann (Jim); his son Paul (Bernardine); his grandchildren whom he referred to as his “fab five”: Maria (Dan), Kathryn (Derek), Carolyn (Joel), Laura and Jane (Todd); and great grandchildren: Oliver, Jameson and Isla. He will be sadly missed by his devoted sister Dot Power; brothers: John (Carmel), Gerald (Carmel) and Robert (Anna); sister-in-law Ruth Goff; and close family friend Kay Yetman. Bill enjoyed many good times and laughs with lifelong friends: Mary and Doug Thompson, Ray and Cammie Collins, Gerald and Yvonne Lang, George and Alice Seviour.
Bill will be remembered in the hockey and basketball community of the 1940’s for his love of sports, and the many championships of the St. Bon’s teams. In life, he owned his own successful agency business through which he made many long-lasting friendships primarily in the pharmaceutical and medical x-ray technology business throughout the province. Above all else, Bill was known for his love of his family, his quick wit and sense of humor. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Le Marchant Road on Sunday, December 19th from 7-9pm, and Monday, December 20th from 2-4pm, and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Teresa’s, Mundy Pond Road at 9:30 a.m, with cremation to follow.
