Passed peacefully away at Health Science Complex on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Alice (Reddick-Short), his sons Donald (Marina), Gary (Berdina), daughter Helen, and his step-children Thomas (Ozette), Brian (Helen), Gerard (Jennifer), Carl (Brenda), Linda (Charlie), Patricia (Carl), Sandra (Sheila), Patrick, Edward (Vanessa), Ronald (Tammy), grandchildren,great grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Doris and daughter Louise, mother and father Andrew and Nellie Short, sister Mary Margaret Kearney and brothers Thomas, Samuel and Nicholas.
Bill worked for many years as a Business Agent with the FFAW and after retiring returned to fish harvesting. He was always dedicated to improve the lives of those who worked in the fishing industry. As a result, he was well known and respected throughout Newfoundland. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Cremation has taken place and Funeral Mass is planned for Tuesday September 21, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead Harbour Grace with inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. ” He will always be loved and always remembered.”
