William Billy John Morrison 2021

The death of William John Morrison of Rothesay, husband of Irene Morrison (Targett), occurred peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Saint John following a period of illness. Born on October 27, 1945, in Reigate, Surrey, England, to Alexander and Evelyn (Smith) Morrison.
Bill was just a baby when he emigrated to Canada after the Second World War with his mother, through Pier 21 in Halifax. After growing up in Chipman and many flying adventures with his father, Bill graduated from the Electronic Technician program at NBCCSJ and started his own business, Ocean Electronics, in Saint John selling and servicing televisions. In the early 80s Bill started working as an instructor for the Electronic Servicing Technology program at NBCC, retiring after 18 years of service. In retirement Bill enjoyed gardening, camping, flight simulator and his family.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, Irene, he is survived by his mother Evelyn of Chipman; two sons Michael (April) of Saint John and Ryan of Rothesay, his sisters Sheila Bishop (Brent) of Fredericton, Edith McGinnis (Donnie) of Chipman, Patricia Hopkins of Fredericton, Heather Morrison Howell of Chipman, and Theresa Morrison of Fredericton. Poppies will be missed by his six grandchildren Grace, Cameron, Sydney, Evan, Maelin, Leah and special cat, Angel. Bill was predeceased by father Alec & sister Jennifer Douglass.
Family will receive comfort at the Chipman Funeral Home on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at the Chipman United Church at 204 Main Street, Chipman, on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Hazel Morris officiating.
Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings, all those 12 and older attending visitation and the service will be required to wear masks, show proof of vaccination and a piece of government issued ID and access will be limited in accordance with NB regulations. Funeral service will be limited to family, with radio access available in church parking lot for others.
Interment will be made in the Red Bank United Church Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John would be appreciated by the family.
