BILL SMITH
Bill Smith, 89, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at the Hillside Manor on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.
Beloved husband of the late Louise Smith (1997). Dear father of Ron Smith (Brenda), Barb Wilker (Al), Gary Smith (Heidi) and Jerry Smith (Janet). Loving grandfather of Jacqui, Jenni, Jay, Shauna, Kevin, Amanda, Craig, Phillip, Luke, Sara, Karlie and their families . Dear brother of Doris Foster. Dear brother-in-law of Karen Smith and Ken Shortreed (Judy). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents John and Edith Smith, sister Dorothy in infancy, brother Leonard, brother-in-law Neil Foster and sister-in-law Joan Beuerman.
Bill worked on the CNR Railroad for 23 years. In 1969, he and Louise purchased the Mitchell Nursing Home which they operated until it was sold to the Ritz Villa in 2006.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Bill’s funeral service may be viewed at LockhartFuneralHome.com on Sunday. Those wishing to attend the visitation must register online at LockhartFuneralHome.com or by phone at 519-348-8643. All coming must have a scheduled time, wear a mask and arrive at their exact time.
