Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Bluewater Health, William Dennis Kerrigan passed away at the age of 71. Never one to draw things out, Billy’s battle with cancer was swift and courageous, and “he gotcha last”. Beloved husband of Janice for 49 years. Loving father of Cheryl (Rob), Todd, Darcy (Dana), and Shane (Charity). Cherished grandfather of Fisher, Sienna, Maci, Callie, Reeve, Levin, Atticus, and Shepherd. Dear brother of Richard (Pam), Kay (Don), Connie (Ron), Karen (Greg), Joanne (Tony), Janice (Earl), and Denise (Paul). Bill will be missed by his mother-in-law Noreen (the late Don) Fisher, sisters-in-law Anne (Dave) and Debbie (Jim), brother-in-law John (Kathleen), and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Hazel Kerrigan and by his siblings David and Mary Beth. Bill was a long standing member of the Lambton Cattlemen’s Association, Founding member of the Mandaumin Optimist, and proud member of the Gare Electric Baseball team (Hall of Fame 1999). His passions were farming and doubling as a stuntman. Bill loved farming, reading and travelling and was a keen punmaster. He will be forever remembered for having the fastest feet on the hardwood, crushing handshakes, bear hugs and snakebites, and finding his next free meal! Bill was a natural and welcoming entertainer with a large heart, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Bill’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bluewater Health for the warmth, compassion and understanding shown to Bill in his final days. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Brights Grove. Bill’s family will be gathering outside their home on Old Lakeshore Rd. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. if anyone would like to drive by and offer their condolences. A private burial of ashes will be held in Wyoming Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
