Willard Lowe Archer passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness early on Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021 at the Didsbury Hospital. He was surrounded by family as he took Jesus’ hand and went on to his eternal home in heaven. Willard was born to Maxwell Archer and Helen (May) Archer (nee Weir) on June 18, 1931 in Didsbury. He was their third child and lived most of his years in Didsbury as a dedicated Albertan.
Willard was a quiet man who also had a twinkle in his eye and a quick dry wit. He was dedicated to hard work and was employed by Reimer Industries and then Tanas Concrete for over 35 years. There wasn’t a town in Alberta that Willard didn’t know of or pass through. He would often say “I helped pour that bridge or I poured that floor.” He loved travelling with Elsie, road trips, a good one on one visit, and being early for everything. If he wasn’t early for most events then he’d rather not go. Willard was a dedicated member of the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church with a quiet, strong faith in Jesus. His family and friends will miss him dearly, but also realize he’s free from suffering and enjoying the views in heaven. We hope he’s driving around delighted by the sights.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Elsie (nee Sawatzky); sister, Helen Archer; sister-in-law, Marion (Eby) Archer; son, Dan Archer; daughters, Patty Creighton (Colin) and Andrea Archer. His grandchildren were his great joy and he loved their visits: Adam Eringa (Chloe), Kieran Eringa and Charity Eringa (all of Australia), Zach Creighton (Emily) and Anika Der (Owen) of Calgary; and his great grandchildren Layla, Hudson, and Ivy of Australia. Willard also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom he loved to see and visit with.
Willard was predeceased by his mother, May, and his father, Maxwell; and brothers, Jack Archer and Paul(Florence) Archer.
We are ever grateful for Willard’s life and presence in our lives and look forward to the day when we will see him again.
