Obituary of Wilfred Cormier, New Waterford
It is with great sadness that we, the family, wish to announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Wilfred Cormier on February 28, 2021 at Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth, NS.
Born in Grand Etang, NS, he was the son of the late Denis and Adele (Doucet) Cormier. He lived most of his life in New Waterford, which he loved dearly.
Wilfred, along with his brother, Joe, owned and successfully operated Cape Breton Auto Radiator in Sydney for excess of 20 years. His specialty, which he excelled at, was the repair and refurbishment of automotive cylinder heads. His vocation was an extension of his lifelong passion for cars, and none more than his beloved Fords. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar at family gatherings, woodworking, and meeting his friends at Tim Hortons. He was also known for being able to fix almost anything.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Cathy, and survived by wife, Veronica; son, Brian (Wendy) Cormier; daughter, Lisa (Mike) Hickey; grandchildren, Kelly Hickey, Kara Hickey, Gillian (Sean) Cormier, Andrew Cormier and great-grandson, Isaac Street.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A private Funeral Mass of celebration will be held at the Parish Church of St. Leonard with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
