Wilfred H Hahn Wednesday December 1st 2021

June 24, 1924 – December 1, 2021
Hahn, Wilfred (Wilf) Henry – Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener at the age of 97. Cherished husband of Evelyn (nee Maier) for 61 years. Devoted father to Joanne Lappage (Brent) and Janet. Beloved grandfather of Allison and Andrea. He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Marietha (nee Church), his brothers Ross, Douglas, Claude and Ronald as well as his sister Elaine Ruller.
Wilf was a World War II veteran who served as a Signalman for the Canadian Armed Forces in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 for 73 years. Wilf was a man of strong faith and a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in downtown Kitchener. He was proud and honoured to lay a wreath, on behalf of St. Andrew’s church, for many years at the Kitchener cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
Wilf was one of a kind. He was the most amazing and generous husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humour and an incredible smile. He loved to stay active and enjoyed family gatherings, square dancing, camping, cottaging, going on bus trips, wood working, golfing and fixing pretty well anything that needed fixing. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
The family would like to thank the amazing nurses, doctors and support staff at St. Mary’s hospital for providing Wilf with exceptional care.
Wilf’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener. Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 54 Queen St. North, Kitchener, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Please note that if you plan to attend the visitation or the service, masks are mandatory and you must RSVP your attendance through the funeral home website or by calling (519) 749-8467.
