Obituary
Passed peacefully away in the early morning of December 13th surrounded by his loving family. Weston Raymond Williams was born on November 11th, 1932 in Bread and Cheese Bay Bulls, where he grew up with siblings Victor and Emmy(deceased). His first job was at concrete products, he then went on to attend trades school to become a welder. Wes was a hard worker who provided well for his family working at McNamara, E.F. Barnes, and later retiring at East Coast Marine. Wes married the love of his life Dorothy on June 27th, 1959 and soon after had their son Derek. They spent many years as a family in Petty Harbour and later moved to Goulds in a home he proudly built with the help of friends.
From an early age his life long passion for music emerged from his father’s talent for fiddle playing. Over the years his love of music evolved into learning many different instruments and even writing his own songs. He proudly played at open mics and festivals with his best friend Dorothy, who he said was his greatest critic. Wes enjoyed traveling, camping with friends and gardening. By far his greatest enjoyment was the time and memories he made with his grandchildren.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 62 years Dorothy; son Derek (Arlene); grandchildren Kristin (Mark), Ashley (Michael), Marc (Sarah); great-grandchildren Mia, Jacob, Macy, and Issac; brother Victor; along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A huge thank you to Dr. Rod McCarthy, Dr. Quinlan, the staff of St. Clare’s 4West and his dedicated home care workers.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral home on Hamilton Avenue on Friday December 17th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday December 18th at St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 2pm. As per government of NL regulations, proof of vaccination is required to attend both the visitation and funeral service.
