Wendell Edward Dawson
1944-2021
The death occurred suddenly at his home in Charlottetown on
Thursday, December 23, 2021 of Wendell Edward Dawson aged 77, beloved
husband of Marjorie Stevenson-Dawson. Wendell was born in Summerside
on November 9, 1944, son of the late Frank and Edith (Murphy)
Dawson.
Wendell was a very giving person of his time and
energy in his community. He was a past president of the board of
directors of the Metro Credit Union serving about thirty years on the
board. Worshipful brother Wendell was very involved in Freemasonry
with Victoria Lodge No. 2, Charlottetown along with other levels of
Freemasonry and also became a Shriner being a past Potentate of the
Nova Scotia-Prince Edward Island Philae Shriners. Wendell was awarded
the Queen Elizabeth ll’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his
significant contributions to his Queen, Country and community.
Father to Johnny, Borden-Carleton and Neil (Jamie), Milton, ON;
step father to Jennifer and Andrea MacDonald-Barr (Derrick).
Grandfather to Kyle, Patrick, Ryan Ethan, Sydni, Julia, Jusslie,
Lucas, Phoebe, Zachary and Winnie. Dear brother to Carol Strongman and
Sam (Lorna) Dawson all of Poplar Grove. Brother in law to Lewis
Stevenson, Charlottetown. Special uncle to Ashley, Samantha, J.C.
along with his other nieces and nephews. Wendell is also survived by a
dear friend Karen Johnson, Toronto, ON and the mother of his children,
Jean Dawson.
Predeceased by his parents and brother in law
Don Strongman.
Resting at Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral
Chapel. Due to current Covid 19 restrictions a private family service
will be held. Interment will follow in the Bideford United
Cemetery.
In memory of Wendell, memorials can to sent to
Shriners Childrens Hospital-Canada, Montreal or Canadian Cancer
Society (PEI Division).
