Obituary of Wayne McKeen
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend Wayne McKeen, peacefully in the early hours of September 3, 2021, at the age of 66.
Survived by his wife Mary, daughters Lindsay (Allen) and Sierra (Jeremy), and son Branden (Mariah). Wayne was blessed with 7 grandchildren and one more due to arrive in December. He is also survived by his brothers Fred (Gail) and Ron (Rosie); brothers-in-law Adrian (Donna), Casey, Ron (Diane), and John (Brenda); sisters-in-law Gert (John) and Cora; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Floyd (1995) and Shirley (2019) and his in-laws Cornelis (2000) and Cornelia (2019).
An avid golfer, Wayne spent majority of his spare time on the course – whether around the county or in Florida. Known for his quick wit and humor, Wayne’s friends were hard-pressed to get a zinger in against him. The bantering amongst the boys will forever echo around the walls of the clubhouse.
Wayne was a selfless man of many hats, always willing to give his time and appreciation to others. He was heavily involved in the community as a coach and committee member. His strength and leadership were much to be admired; his passion the driving force behind everything he did; and his love unconditional and abundant.
As Wayne was never the type to like being on display, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held among immediate family, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and as per Wayne’s request, any memorial donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba on behalf of Maiya Bates.
