Obituary
Warren Short passed away on February 23, 2021 at the age of 52 years after a dynamic life full of family, friends and adventure.
Warren will be forever remembered with love by his daughters, Daphne and Lindsay (and their dog, Hugo). He will be greatly missed by his sister Shelda-Marie (Jeff) and nieces Tamara and Hailee; his dear friend, Karen, and the mother of his daughters, Jodi Bishop. Warren will also be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Warren’s parents, Edna Short and father, George Short are predeceased.
Warren brought boundless energy and enthusiasm to all aspects of his life including his passions for music, athletics and outdoor adventure. In his early years, he pursued his love of music as a bass guitarist playing locally and across the world on cruise ships and in Cyprus. At one point, he lived in a houseboat in San Francisco.
Later in life, he enjoyed training competitively as a triathlete and competed in many triathlons, placing several times in the top three for his age category. He loved traveling, hiking, camping, paddling, running, swimming, skiing and biking. Most of all he loved being a father and spending time with his two daughters.
Warren was born in Toronto and raised in Bowmanville. He began his education at Humber College’s music program and later studied economics at Ryerson University. Warren was a dedicated professional working as a project manager and implementation strategist.
Friends and family will be invited to attend a celebration of Warren’s life, which will be held in April, 2021. Details about the time and place will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Warren may be made to Wellspring, a charitable organization that supported Warren and his family throughout his journey with cancer.
A private memorial and graveside service for family will also be held in April at St. Andrew’s – St. James Cemetery on Coldwater Road in Orillia.
