Walter lived his life in St. John’s but cherished being in the woods or on the water, having spent time as a Cadet, a wilderness guide, and a Cub and Scout leader. Walter was happiest spending time with family and friends, particularly in Gambo and North Harbour, and watching his grandchildren playing hockey, soccer and their other passions. As a diver, dancer, marksman, hunter, woodworker, and craftsman, there was nothing this man could not do. Countless colleagues, clients, and co-workers will remember Walter from a long and distinguished career in the construction, oil and insurance industries, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Walter was the strongest, kindest and most gentle soul. He will be remembered as a humble and thoughtful man who befriended, influenced, affected and mentored those around him by his actions. He was a man of few words but of much wisdom. He was a champion of his family, both as a brother and as a father. Selflessly, Walter was always willing to lend a strong and helping hand.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Ramjattan, the medical staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, and all of the staff of the Paramedicine Program and the Palliative Care Unit at Dr. L.
