Mr. Walter John Stareski, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away at home with his son Ron at his side, on Friday, November 26, 2021. He was born in Rama, S.K., on October 26, 1926, to Mike and Julie Stareski, and was the oldest of 13 children. Walter worked at numerous jobs, until be finally settled at Saskatchewan wheat pool, retiring from there after 20 years. Later he enjoyed fishing with his family and puttering around the back yard, or playing crib with his son, Ron; many happy adventures were had when they visited the family farm in Rama. He also bartended at the empire Hotel for many years. Walter is survived by one son, Ronald (Pat) and by two grandchildren Breanne (Rob, Mikalah) Pasqualino, Thomas, aka T.J. (Courtney, Jayden), and sister-in-law Marie and family. His sisters Adell Purcha from Surrey, BC and Bernice Stinka from Alliston ON, brother Ed from Saskatoon, SK and all their families, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins are also survived. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Rose, and 4 brothers and 9 sisters. Also predeceased are his mother and father-in-law, brother and sisters-in-law Steve, Ollie (Gino) and Stella (Milan). Private services were held, and Walter is now reunited with his loving wife Rose. We would like to thank all the various health care workers that helped Walter remain in his home. Thanks to our neighbours and friends for the much-loved support. Also, a big thank you to the Thunder Bay Police for their kindness and compassion.
