Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Ardath (Horne) Creelman; sons, Stephen (Marlene), Truro, Daniel (Kim), Sheet Harbour, Michael, Old Barns and David, Princeport; grandson, Mathew Creelman, Truro; sister, Dorothy (Creelman) Luck, ON. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Inez (Bell) Creelman; brother, Ronald and sister-in-law, Barbara; bother-in-law, Ronald Horne and sister-in-law, Maxine; brother-in-law, George Luck.
Walter was born on July 5, 1936, in Princeport, NS and was the youngest of three children. He moved to Old Barns as a young boy with his family, from where, as a young man, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). He and Ardath met as young adults, they married and moved to Chilliwack, BC where they lived for a brief time before returning to live in Truro. In the early 1960’s, they built a home in Old Barns where they raised their family and have resided since.
Walter’s career was mostly related to his oil burner trade where he worked for Irving Oil, Wilsons Fuel and other local, independent fuel service providers. Also in the early 70’s, through his trade, he taught at the Truro Vocational School. In more recent years, he worked for the Colchester East Hants School Board maintaining the heating plants for forty-eight regional schools, until his retirement.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory may be made to a charity of choice. By the family’s request, there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Online condolences available at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
