Walter’s Obituary
The family of the late Walter Parmley announce his passing at the Canora Hospital on October 2, 2021, at the age of 61 years.
Walter Gordon Parmley was born on April 25, 1960, to Joseph and Dorothy (Thomson) Parmley in Kelvington, SK. In 1976, the family relocated to Hudson Bay, SK. Walter achieved his grade nine education and later went on to pursue his GED and a professional driving certificate at SIAST in Prince Albert, SK.
Sadly, Walter lost his mother to Alzheimer’s in 1987 and his father to cancer in 2006.
In 1990, Walter married Marie Rubletz and in 1993, Walter, Marie, and their four children, Kevin, Craig, Diana and Ryan, moved to Canora from Hudson Bay. Through the years that followed, and as their children married, the family grew to include Mindy, Connie, Chuck, Teri, and Nolan.
Unfortunately, life was not without its pain and trials, as Walter and Marie lost Ryan in a car accident in February 2000 and Connie to a car accident in June 2017.
Some of Walter’s proudest and happiest moments were with his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren: Logan, Tiara, Haydyn, Heidi, Kylee, Storey, Austin, Jasper and Kelton. He was, and will always be, their Awesome Papa.
Walter had an excellent work ethic and worked with many trucking companies such as, CF Trucking and Solomon Trucking in Hudson Bay.
Walter also drove on the ice roads of the north for two years. Eventually, he acquired his own truck and started his independent company, Running W Trucking. He also worked as a lease operator for M & M Alberts Trucking, Trimac, Canamera Carriers and Allegiant Bulk Solutions. With these companies, as with his friends, Walter was an inspiration and a true professional. Over the years, he received numerous awards and citations.
Sadly, due this hard-working lifestyle, Walter had to have a knee replacement which ultimately ended his trucking career.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Dorothy Parmley; his son, Ryan Malanchuk; daughter-in-law, Connie Malanchuk; uncles: Roy Parmley, Burt Parmley, Hank Parmley, John Thomson and Charles Thomson; and aunts: Luella Erwin (Parmley), Alice Reid (Thomson), Ivy Reid (Thomson), and June Pilling (Thomson).
He will be remembered and cherished forever by his wife, Marie; sons, Kevin Malanchuk and Craig Parmley; and daughter, Diana Fehr (Nolan Naylor); daughter-in-law, Mindy Fullawka; son-in-law, Chuck Fehr; his treasured grandchildren: Logan, Tiara, Haydyn, Heidi, Kylee, Storey, Austin, Jasper, and Kelton; sisters, Laverne (Roger) Genaille of Chelan, SK and Loretta (Wayne) Johnson of Hudson Bay, SK; and his uncles, Phil (Valerie) Parmley and George (Donelda) Thomson both of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
A Celebration of Walter’s Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 16, 2021, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Shawna Leson as Certified Celebrant.
