Walter Joseph (Wally) Russell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, step-father and brother, Walter Joseph Russell, 65, a resident of Florence, on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Halifax on July 5, 1955, he was the son of the late Edward and Bridget (Robinson) Russell.
Wally was a Paramedic, employed with EHS until his retirement in July 2020. He was well known for his kind and gentle manner, and his infectious laugh and sense of humor.
Wally is survived by his wife and best friend, Jeanette, step-children Lee Ann (Dennis) Leblanc, and Nick (MaryAnn) Gouthro, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters Betty (Henry) Gielen, Margie (Tom) Robinson, and Debbie (Ward) Glogowski, sister-in-law Valerie Russell, brothers-in-law Matt Gielen, Edwin (Evie) Green and Donnie (Cecilia) Green, as well as many nieces and nephews, whom he cherished.
Along with his parents, Wally was predeceased by his first wife Shirley, brothers Butch (Edward) and William, and sisters Mary and Loretta.
