Obituary for
Vivienne Grace Kapty
It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of Vivienne Grace Kapty, formerly of the Waskatenau area (Hollow Lake, Alberta) who passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the age of 89 years old.
Born at Abernethy, Saskatchewan on December 1, 1931, she resided and worked on her family’s farm. She was called to work at an early age to provide for her parents and siblings. She continued this by working in camps in northern Alberta as a cook, where she eventually met her husband Thomas (Tom) Kapty (Hollow Lake). They then settled to farm and raise their two daughters, Sheila and Tammy. Later in life, Vivienne worked at the Pine Ridge Forest Nursery until her retirement.
Vivienne is survived by her daughter, Tammy; brothers, Kelvin (Lynn) and Bruce of Saskatchewan; sister, Marty of Manitoba; sister-in-law, Arliss; and the dear friends she leaves behind. Vivienne is predeceased by her husband, Tom (1985); daughter, Sheila (1986); siblings, George, Pat and Cec; nieces and nephews, Joan, Ken, Bradley and Scott; and many close friends and neighbors.
Vivienne will be most remembered for being a great neighbor and gardener. She had a love and skill for gardening, growing beautiful flower beds, cooking, baking, crafting, sewing, and berry-picking. Vivienne also took great joy in hosting the various special events of her dear friends, neighbors, and family. The coffee was always on at Viv’s house and neighbors were happily welcomed for a visit. Vivienne was a dear and gentle soul and will be deeply missed. Her passion for gardening will forever live on in her daughter Tammy.
Due to COVID restrictions, a service will be held in spring 2022 at the Spruce Field Cemetery, near Waskatenau at a date yet to be determined.
