Virginia Rose Riffey – age 81 of Maynardville passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Virginia was an active member of Cedar Ford Baptist Church in Luttrell, TN until her sickness progressed when she then attended Milan Baptist Church with her children. Her family was the love of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by husband, Jack Riffey; parents, W.C. (Clint) and Lucy Atkins Thomas; sister, Nancy Scruggs; mother-in-law, Christina Riffey; sisters-in-law, Marion McClain and FloEtta Ledbetter; special friend, Betsy Yarnell.
Survived by children, Russell (Linda), Michael (Vickie Joyce), Douglas (Suzanne); grandchildren, Holly Smith (Robert Hindman), Julie Cox, Jimmy Cox, Jr., Brian Riffey, Kevin Riffey, Tallitha Jobs, Celia Riffey, and Olivia Riffey; great grandchildren, Kelsey Smith, Bryson Smith, Nikki Cox, Abby McCarter, Morgan (Lee) Wilson, and Tucker Woolard; great great grandchildren, Jay and Reed Wilson; sisters-in-law, Frances Stalsworth, Ruth Moore, Hazel Bennett, Edna Newman, Ruby Hitch and Jessie Riffey; special friends, longtime Pastor, Dick Bumgardner and Will Bunch; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to doctor and special friend, Dr. Udit Chaudhuri and his staff, Kathy Bunch, Dula Hamilton, Patriot Hills Assisted Living, Tommy Spencer, and all the wonderful employees from all shifts.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jody Winstead officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM Monday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 11:00 AM interment.
