Obituary for
Viola Mary Oliver (Gillespie)
OLIVER, Viola Mary – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Viola Oliver (nee Gillespie) at the Welland Hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Viola was born in Guelph, Ontario on February 25, 1931. Loving mother of Andrew (Kathy), James (Barbara), Michael (Joanne) and Cynthia (Roger Violette). Cherished grandmother of Kevin, Jamie-Anne, Jillian, Jimmy, Danielle, Timothy, Chantel, Tara-Lynn, Julie and Adam. She will be lovingly remembered by her 13 great grandchildren, sister Eileen Mancil and brother-in-law Ron Wichels. Predeceased by her husbands Arthur Oliver and George Nickerson and sister Margaret Wichels. Viola loved her dog Tasha and will be fondly remembered by all the people she got to know at her afternoon Timmies and the Welland Ladies cribbage girls. In her retirement she enjoyed talking on Facebook with her family and friends and “playing” in her flowers but her real love was to get out on her rider and cut her grass. Arrangements in care of the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland. As an expression of sympathy, a memorial donation may be made to the SPCA. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com.
