Vincent Joseph Holland of Nowlanville, Miramichi passed away at Losier Hall on October 26, 2021 at the age of 82. Born in St. Margaret’s, NB on November 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Matthew and Annie (Dwyer) Holland.
Vince is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy; his children: Lorie (David), Mary Rita (Dave), Matthew (Lynette), and Amy; his seven grandchildren: Ailsa Kerr, Michael & Mary Rose Lounsbury, Ethan & Connor Howe, and Declan & Annie Holland.
Vince and his family enjoyed their time together; his family has countless fond memories that will provide solace and comfort in the days ahead. He is survived by one brother, Merlin; sisters-in-law Betty O’Shea, Margie MacDonald, Betty Dawson, and Merita (Blake) MacMillan; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Vince was predeceased by his biological parents: Edmund and Gertrude (Holland) Daigle; brothers Freddie Holland and George Daigle; sister-in-law Carmel Conkie; brothers-in-law Mike O’Shea, Bill Conkie, Paul Dawson, and Norman MacDonald.
Vince had 36 years of service with Hotel Dieu Hospital and the Miramichi Regional Hospital before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and a Fourth degree knight with the Knights of Columbus and third degree knight with the Father Michael Egan Council. He was a volunteer with the St. Patrick’s Senior Choir, Nelson Senior Citizens Club, Nelson Miramichi Fire Department and the Nelson Softball Association and enjoyed curling with the Miramichi Omega League.
Vince Holland will be resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, 35 University Avenue, Miramichi with visitation on Friday, October 29th, 2021 from 2-4 pm to 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Dass Papu officiating. Pallbearers are: Tommy Dawson, Joseph Donaher, George Holland, William Holland, Luke MacMillan, Danny O’Shea, Shawn Anderson and Andrew Hatt.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the St. Patrick’s Church Renovation Fund or the memorial of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care provided to Vince by the staff of Flanagan Court at Losier Hall. Vince was content and comfortable during his year-and-a-half there, and for this we are truly grateful.
