Velma Palmer, 93,
passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, July 27, 2021
in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, NS where she had lived for the past
nine years. Born in Glenmont, she was the last surviving member of her
immediate family. She loved country music and enjoyed a good
toe-tapping song. She leaves behind a daughter, Debbie (Eric) Steeves;
granddaughters, Lisa Irving and Tammy Patton; great granddaughter,
Jessie McKay and her children; sisters-in-law, Lucy and Minnie
Sheffield. Besides her parents, Allen and Emily Sheffield, she was
predeceased by her first husband, Reginald Pineo; her second husband,
Keith Palmer; daughter, Hazel Collier; sister, Florence; brothers,
Ralph Sheffield, Adelbert Sheffield, Glen Sheffield; half-brothers,
Augustus Hazel and Henry Hazel. Due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions
and regulations, an invitation-only funeral service will be held in
the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton
officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to
the caring staff at Mountain Lea Lodge. Donations in Velma’s
memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of
your choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
