Velda Marie Leslie
1962-2021
The passing of Velda Marie Leslie, common law wife of Richard
“Ricky” Wright, occurred unexpectedly at their residence in
Beaver Harbour NB on August 18, 2021. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on
October 27, 1962, she was a daughter of Diana (Larson) Leslie and the
late Herbert Leslie. A loving partner, mother, grandmother, daughter
and sister, in addition to her partner, Ricky, she is survived by her
children: Nick “Herb” Leslie (Mindy Lomax) of Seeley’s Cove
NB and Katelyn Leslie (Davern Greenier) of Blacks Harbour NB; her
pride and joy, her grandchildren: Jacob, Colby, Kaylee, Hayden and
Arianna; her mother: Diana Leslie of Blacks Harbour NB; three sisters:
Marilyn Leslie (Randy Weaver) of Blacks Harbour, Kim Cook of Back Bay
NB and Carla Leslie (Marcel Boudreau) of Miramichi NB; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her father, Velda was
predeceased by one brother: Justin Leslie; and by one sister: Mary Ann
Leslie.
Prior to retirement, Velda was employed with Connor’s
Brothers in Blacks Harbour. She was a loving and caring grandmother
who truly devoted her life to her grandkids. They meant the world to
her and she loved nothing more than to spend her time with them. In
her spare time, Velda enjoyed fishing and driving the back roads
looking for wildlife, especially in the fall when the leaves would
change. While she was taken from us quickly, her love and devotion to
her family will always be remembered and cherished.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral
home with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be
held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Gordon Cooke officiating, followed by the interment in the St. George
Rural Cemetery. In Velda’s memory, donations to the NB Heart &
Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
