van Dyk; John Gregory
We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear son, brother and uncle, John, on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Born in Caledonia on July 17, 1960, he was the son of Riek (Spithoven)
van Dyk and the late Case van Dyk, the middle of nine children.
He graduated from North Queens Rural High in 1978 and from Lunenburg Vocational School with a Diploma in Welding in 1980. In 1995 he received a Diploma in Business Management. John was a great artist, a skilled welder, and a successful businessman. Most of all he was a loving son, caring sibling, and uncle extraordinaire. Over the past several years he provided compassionate care for our mom and dad and was a favorite uncle, much loved by his many nieces and nephews. John loved to read and watch educational shows. He was very intelligent, having a wealth of knowledge on many subjects and an ability to recall it in an instant. Puzzles and word games were among his favourite pastimes. John was part of a large caring family who loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, free of cancer and his mental health challenges.
Besides his many nieces and nephews, John is survived by his mother Riek and siblings, Gerry (Bev), Anne Selig (Glen), Jeannie (John McLellan), Anthony, Bernadette McIntosh (Mike), Peter (Kim), Leo, Charles (Tammy Ingram).
As per John’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Community Food Resource Network, Caledonia, or the North Queens Medical Center. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com
