Tributes
Murchison, Val
April 27, 1930 – November 17, 2021
After a life filled with love, friendship and a lot of curling, Val Murchison (née Heppenstall) passed away at the age of 91 on November 17th at the Salvation Army Grace Manor. Val was predeceased by her husband Dr. A.C Murchison (Kip) and recently her sister Ann Patterson. Val leaves behind her three children Blake, Wendy and Neil, and her grandchildren Lindsay, Matthew, Jamie, Lauren, Michael and Alannah. Val was an Ottawa girl and attended Glebe Collegiate – as did Kip – and spent a lot of early days skiing at Camp Fortune and playing tennis at the Elmdale Tennis Club, where her relationship with Kip blossomed. They spent almost 60 years together, raising kids, enjoying their cottage on Green Lake, QC and curling and socializing at the Granite Curling Club. And much more. Val will be missed by all who knew her, including her sister-in-law Jacquey Murchison and her children Don, Margo and Keith, her sister-in-law Grace Howes (Bryan, Texas) and her children Ian and Scott and her brother-in-law Garry Patterson and his children Julie and Janice. Val always had a smile on her face and it is going to be missed.
A special thanks to the staff at Grace Manor, and prior to that the Duke of Devonshire, for their great care. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would make a big difference.
