TURNOCK Arnold Gordon October 14 2021

Gordon Turnock died peacefully on October 14 at the age of 96 at Westview Hospice in Stony Plain.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Gordon served for two years training as a navigator in the RCAF before studying engineering at the University of Alberta. He had a long career with Imperial Oil Limited where he worked as an Alberta Land Surveyor and an engineer, culminating with several years in Arctic oil exploration. His children fondly remember, as a family, many summer days camping and winter weekends skiing throughout western Canada. Gordon had a close lifelong relationship with his sister, Elinor. Retired in 1982, Gordon and his wife, Rustie built their dream home at Shuswap Lake, and together they enjoyed many years travelling the world. Around home he was most comfortable puttering in his workshop where he produced an extraordinary number of useful items for family and friends.
Gordon is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Agnes (Rustie) Turnock, and survived by his daughter Jordyce (Peter) van Muyden, son Brian Turnock (Elizabeth Cooper), grandson Samuel Turnock and sister Elinor Turnock who all remember him as a quiet, gentle and generous man, sometimes a bit gruff but always a loving husband, father and brother, and friend to many.
A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way in memory of Gordon. The family wishes to extend special thanks to staff at the Westview Hospice for their gentle and compassionate care.
