Power-Coombs, Gertrude “Trudy” M. –Age 58, Bible Hill. It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gertrude “Trudy” M. Power-Coombs on April 10, 2021. Left to mourn is her husband, Derek Coombs; mother, Mary; brothers, Larry and Paul; sisters, Mary (Raoul), Bridget (André), Carol Ann (Bruce), and Dorothy (Gervais); mother-in-law, Charlotte (a.k.a. Mother Coombs); brothers-in-law, Bill, Maurice, Curtis (Judy) and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Dean), Gaye (Jimmy) and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with an abundance of friends.
Trudy was predeceased by sister, Veronica as well as father, Philip.
Trudy was well known by family, friends and co-workers as a very honest, incredibly passionate and fiercely loving woman. She lived everyday as her authentic self and always told you what you needed to hear, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. She is remembered as the person who lit up every room she walked into with her sparkly eyes, loud personality and unforgettable laugh. A very giving person who would give a stranger the shirt off her back. She was loved beyond words and will be missed greatly.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, April 17th from 2 – 4pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. COVID-19 restrictions will be in place. 1. We were and are in shock and dismay knowing of Trudy’s passing.
Named for her grandmother, Gertrude, Trudy was one of a multitude of family members, and cousins so numerous and widely dispersed, they would not have all known each other as she would have wished. That is the sad fact of large families, while the thread of family love somehow holds us together generation after generation. Hearts are overflowing for you Derek. Aunt Maudie.
