Tony’s Obituary
Tony, resident of Hines Creek passed away on September 11, 2021 at the age of 97 years.
Tony Anton Cook was born at home in rural Saskatchewan in the MD of Sarnia on August 22, 1924. To parents Joseph and Julia Cook He was the second of 7 siblings.
As a kids his family moved to Medicine Hat, And he visited and stayed with his Sister Magdaline and her family in the peace country often, eventually moving up here permanently where he worked for local farmers and sawmills. Tony was a brave guy teaching his niece’s and nephew to drive by taking them to Fort St John.
He always had a smile, and a big heart for all kids. He’d get their attention by teasing or pinching them. He loved visiting, playing cards and singing. He was good at telling stories even if it was full of bs. He remembered the good things and forgot the bad. And loved gathering up junk he didn’t need, and as seen on tv will likely go broke as he may have been their number one customer.
Family was important to him, and so were his friends, you never knew when he would stop over, it could be 10 o’clock at night or 40 below in a windstorm be he expected coffee when he arrived.
When he retired Tony moved into Autumn Lodge in Berwyn and then moved to Homesteader lodge in Hines Creek where he was always out in the common areas visiting or playing cards, After the start of the 2020 pandemic Tony moved in with his niece Elsie to avoid the isolation.
Tony was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Julia, Brothers John, Ennis, Nick and Sisters Magdaline, Anna Marie
He leaves behind Brother Frank numerous nieces and nephew’s friends and lodge staff who he thought of as family. A privet family graveside ceremony will be held at the Eureka River Cemetery at a later date.
