Obituary of Thomas Hunter
HUNTER- Thomas:
Passed away peacefully on Sunday December 26th 2021 at Cedarwood Village Simcoe in his 97th year, born April 21st, 1925 in Cowdenbeath, Scotland. He was the son of John Hunter and Jean (Beveridge) Hunter. They emigrated to Brantford Ontario in 1928. Beloved husband of the late Mabel (Hussey) 2021 for 75, years. Loving father of Donna (Henry) Hagey of Simcoe, and the late Ron Hunter (2016). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Louis, (Emmanuelle), Mark, (Rebecca) Hagey, both of Calgary, Laura Thompson (Blaine)of Milton, and Lisa Thompson, of Sault St. Marie, and greatgrandchildren Justine, Samuel, Edwin and Oliver Hagey. Survived by sister Margaret Lovell. Predeceased by brother Charles “Chic” (Eve) Hunter, brother in laws Jack Lovell and George (Jean) Hussey, and sister in law Betty (Len) Kensit. Tom was a resident of Brantford for over 90 years. He built his residence at 23 Morton Ave with the help of his brother “Chic” and fellow employees at Koehring-Waterous. Tom and Mabel occupied this home for over 65 years. Tom joined K-W when he was 16 years old and continued his studies at night school until he obtained his Industrial Engineering accreditation papers. He continued working at K-W until his retirement in 1985. Tom enjoyed golf in the summer at Northridge where he scored 2 holes in one. In the winter he enjoyed curling at the Brant Curling Club where his team scored a rare eight ender. Many thanks to the staff at Cedarwood LTC, Simcoe for their care and attention these past few years, especially during the Covid difficulties. A private family inurnment will be held at Farrington Burial Ground. If wished, a memorial donation may be made in Tom’s memory to a charity of your choice or to Stedman Community Hospice, Brantford.
