July 17, 1926 – November 26, 2021
Peacefully passed away among his family on November 26, 2021, at Lanark Heights at the age of 95. Tommy leaves behind his beloved wife Donna, and is reunited with his previously deceased first bride, Edith and second, Jean. He will be missed by his children, Nick (Susan), Chris (Dave), Mike (Louise), Mark (Chris), Jane (Brad), Susan (Ken). He was the cherished Grandpa to 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Tommy was predeceased by his son, David, sister, Kathleen “Kay” (Bob) Lobsinger and brother Robert (Jackie) Marcella.
Tommy was genuine. A true gentleman, he will be remembered as a welcoming and loving person, proud of his work, his family and all his accomplishments. When he returned to Canada after his deployment in Europe following the war, Tom worked with Carling, Carling/O’Keefe and Labatt’s breweries for over 35 years. He was a community member through and through, spending many hours volunteering his time. In his leisure, Tommy was a dedicated golfer and ball player – He even started a softball team with the Breithaupt Centre. Tom and Donna were longtime members of the Drayton Theatre. Cottage life at Conestogo Lake with the family was always a highlight and brought many beautiful memories. After summering at the lake, Donna and Tom enjoyed snowbirding in Florida where they loved dancing and singing at the clubhouse. He will be held in esteem by many.
Tom’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Please note, guests who wish to attend must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467 to attend and will be required to provide proof of vaccination. A celebration of his life will be held in better weather.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 or Scouts Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
