The tough guy quota in Heaven increased today after the death of Thomas Richard Adams at the age of 73. He put forth a courageous battle against cancer, passing away on Tuesday, December 14th, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves behind his loving wife Elaine of 50 years. Cherished father of Tom (Lisa), Michelle Connell (Sean) and Daniel. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Matthew, Samantha and Jocelyn. Dear brother of Larry, Karen Zakal (Gene) and Kathryn Moceri (the late Frank). Predeceased by parents Stan and Teresa. Son-in-law of Helen Bezaire and the late Raymond. Brother-in-law of Mickey (Helen), Gary (Bunny), Jimmy (Debbie), Jane Vigneux (Wayne), Debbie Deslippe (Duane), Raymond (Lori). He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was an avid pitcher in the county baseball leagues, playing for River Canard. It was playing baseball as an ace pitcher that he met his future sweetheart. Tom married the love of his life on June 5th 1971. This year they had their marriage blessed by the Pope to celebrate their 50th anniversary together. Tom was a professional truck driver for Canadian Machinery for many years. He displayed an incredible work ethic and was devoted to his family. He had a great love of sports especially the Detroit Sports teams and Tom Brady. He remained a brave, iron-willed man, even throughout his final months.
The family would especially like to thank all of the ambulance attendants, doctors and nurses who provided loving care at both Hotel Dieu, WRH Met Campus and Families First Funeral Home, for making the arrangements. A special thanks to Justin Lambert, Dr. Bergeron, Anoop, his sisters Kathyrn and Karen and the staff of Windsor Hospice and Paramed. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or the Hospice of Windsor would be appreciated by the family.
As per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
