Theresa was a proud and caring mother, Mémère and Grandmémère. She was nurturing, compassionate and had a strong sense of what is right. She was approachable, easy to talk to and she truly cared. Theresa, a gifted teacher, used these skills throughout her life to teach students, family and others.
Theresa was blessed to share many happy years with her sisters playing competitive duplicate bridge. She also travelled the world with her sisters, sister-in-law and friends. You never had to ask her twice to visit somewhere new as she was always “Ready to Go!”
Theresa expressed her love for life and devotion through song and dance. She knew the words to countless songs, hymns and tunes in both French and English. She knew the steps, jives and moves to every style of music and would never turn down a chance to dance!
Theresa and her husband Ellwood enjoyed the companionship of a wonderful group of friends. Together they played golf and travelled and danced at many events throughout Northern Ontario.
Theresa’s family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Riverview Gardens (especially the 6th West and 4th East Floors) for the compassionate and attentive care given to our mother during the last ten years. We would also like to thank Henrietta June, a remarkable and kind caregiver and friend, who loved our Mom like family.
A special thank you also goes out to Nancy Peckham who spent some valued times with Mom.
In keeping with Theresa’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in Timmins, Ontario in the spring.
In Theresa’s memory, donations can be made to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent-Riverview Gardens or Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander & Houle Funeral Home at www.alexanderandhoulefuneralhome.ca.
May her love of life, contagious smile and wit continue to shine in those she has left behind avec la “Joie de Vivre”.
