Obituary
Peacefully, after a brief illness, at the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Robert and Agnes (Wallace) Pollock, Sydney will be reunited with his late wife Dorothy (Munson). He was predeceased by his siblings Robert (Lou), Ronald (Madge), Annie (John), Margaret (John) and Cissy (Robert). He was predeceased by brothers- and sisters-in-law William, Ted (Ruth), Doug (Nellie), Ronald, Betty (Jack), Margorie, Shirley, June (Bud). He leaves behind to mourn, his son Brett (Johanne) and daughter Carol. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kyle (Chris), Jeanne, Robert (Vanessa), Alex (Amanda), Anne-Marie (Pierre-Luc). He will be lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Aaron and Benjamin, by many nieces and nephews, and by sister-in-law Lorraine Munson.
He will be remembered by many friends he has made over his lifetime, but a special mention to Elisabeth Richter, who provided support and companionship for many years.
Sydney grew up during WWII in Glasgow, and that instilled a strong sense of duty and independence into him. In the early ’50s, he served in the RAF as a member of the 208 Squadron stationed at RAF base Fayid, Egypt. He served as an armament mechanic on Gloucester Meteor Jets as well as Spitfires, a plane he was captivated with for his entire life. He spent time in Iraq and Cyprus before returning home to Glasgow to complete his apprenticeship as a master carpenter.
Sydney emigrated to Canada in 1958, where he met his love, Dorothy Munson. Dorothy and Sydney were married in 1961 and later had two children, Brett and Carol.
Sydney used his skills as a carpenter to build a family cottage in Penetanguishene, a place that he and the family enjoyed for many summers.
He worked for the Peel Board of Education in their structural department, retiring in 1992.
He loved all things sports. He ran marathons, and coached/refereed soccer, loved golf and curling. He also was an accomplished ballroom dancer and played the bagpipes.
He was always good-humoured and quick with a joke. He taught us that there were no limits on what we could do, and he was a positive influence on all who knew him. He was loved by all of us, and we will miss him terribly.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Civic and Elizabeth Bruyère hospitals for their compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. A private gathering of friends and family will take place at a future date.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sydney Wallace Pollock January 18 1929 September 27 2021 (age 92)..
