Obituary
With great sadness, the family of Sydney ROY Johnson announce his passing after a lengthy illness – he was 84.
Roy went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 27, 2021 with his wife and granddaughter by his side.
Roy is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Vera; two sons, Stuart (Barb) of Penticton, and Kevon (Lisa) of Calgary; one grandson, Christopher (Danielle) of Penticton, and one granddaughter. Sydnee of Penticton.
Roy was born December 6, 1936 in Bergen, Alberta the 6th of 11 children. He is predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Survived by two brothers, Rudy (Tomiko), Rick (Lorraine), and two sisters, Ann and Susan. He also leaves four sisters-in-law, June, Ethel, Shirley and Marie and three brothers-in-law, Melvin (Noreen), Clarence, and Larry. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roy started working at age 16 as an equipment operator, before becoming a truck driver. He owed his own trucks for 30+ years. He had a great love of family, and was an avid reader, enjoyed camping, old western movies, old west history, and puzzles of all kinds.
He will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.
