Susan Jane Taylor Simpson Thursday August 12th 2021

Died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa on August 12.
Loving wife of Robert Taylor. Loving mother of Simon (Natalie) and Susanna (Tyler), and grandmother to Anthony Taylor and Alyssa Mills. She will be especially missed by her brother George Patrick Simpson, his wife, Gayle and her other sister-in-law, Patricia Taylor. She will also be greatly missed by her niece and nephew, Katie and Stephen, and their families and by a large number of cousins and other family members, including those who live in Scotland. A wide circle of friends were all dearly fond of her.
Born in Montreal, Sue lived in Windsor, Ontario, before moving to Oakville, Ontario. Sue graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA and MA in English. She taught in Niagara Falls and Oakville before moving to Ottawa in 1970, where she eventually became an English Department head.
A long-time active parishioner of Trinity Anglican Church, Ottawa, Sue became especially active after retirement, serving in many ways including recently as a Warden. She was a keen participant in book clubs. She became a dedicated supporter of refugee sponsorship, helping with the resettlement of over 30 refugees, mainly from Syria. Throughout all this activity, family remained central to her. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage where she was known by many as “Auntie Sue”.
Family and friends may visit the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday, August 19 from 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 1230 Bank Street, on Friday at 2 p.m. Following Covid protocol, attendance will be strictly limited to registered guests. To RSVP, for both the visitation and/or Service, please visit Susan’s page on the funeral home website. The Service will be Livestreamed and available on Youtube and on Facebook.
Interment will occur at a later date in Peterborough at Little Lake Cemetery. Donations in memory of Sue could be made to Doctors Without Frontiers, Trinity Anglican Church, Ottawa, or a charity of choice.
