Obituary of Steve Verbrugghe
At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Etienne Jules “Steve” Verbrugghe, of West Lorne, passed away at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Cheryl (née Wilton). Loving father of the late Jon Verbrugghe (2015), Justin Verbrugghe, and Monique Verbrugghe (Kevin Clark). Cherished grandfather of Brooke Trybel, Reese and Marshall Weekes. Dear brother of Edna Lee, Paul (Linda) Verbrugghe and the late Mary Jeavons (2007). Survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents Jan Verbrugghe and Anna (née De Meurichy).
Steve was a proud farmer in West Elgin for many years. He took pride in his livestock, namely Arabian horses and Mustangs. He worked in logging, tobacco and swine, among other sectors.
Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF WEST LORNE, 202 Main Street, West Lorne (519-785-0810) on Friday, July 2nd from 2-4 p.m. Registration is required to attend visitation. Please click on the link below or call the funeral home to register. A private Funeral Mass will be held. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
