Tributes
Steve Hastie
July 25, 1966 – May 14, 2021
Peacefully at home with loved ones by his side, Steve received his wings to walk with angels. His battle with ALS was fought with so much strength and bravery. Survived by his parents Jack and Beryl (Walter) Hastie, and sisters Lorraine (Jim Hotten) and Samantha (Martin Pancirov). Steve will be dearly missed by his nephews Jesse & Jack, his niece Danielle, his cherished cousins and many, many friends.
Steve was born in London, England but Jack & Beryl’s desire to provide a greater life for their children brought them to Canada to raise their family. Steve grew up watching and learning everything about cars, engines and racing. This passion took him to the go-kart track alongside his father where they enjoyed many years of racing together. #22 will be remembered as a ‘retired’ Champion, World Karting Association at the Canadian Nationals in Shannonville. Steve loved speed, his Camaros and NASCAR.
A proud man of strong character and integrity, Steve enjoyed time with his friends and loved them immensely. When you think of Steve, celebrate the good memories you have with him and remember that life is short, and it should be lived to the fullest.
There will be a private family gathering at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery in Richmond. Steve will be laid to rest with his late ‘Nan’ Lillian Violet Walter and Uncle Sid & Aunt Sylvia (Walter) Dixon. A celebration of life to follow in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALS Society of Canada. Tributes, condolences or donations can be found at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
