Steve Balas
Retired Firefighter – Oshawa Ont.
Passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021 at Ross Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Lindsay Ont. in his 85th year. Steve enjoyed spending as much time as possible both summer and winter at his cottage on Sturgeon Lake. He is survived by his four children Darlene (Oshawa), Daniel (Vancouver) Gordon/Heather (Calgary), Stephen/Jill (Brooklyn): his six grandchildren Mitchell, Michael, Claire, Aleah, Briar and Bret; his friends and neighbors on Long Beach Road, Cameron and Island Road Scarborough, many nieces and nephews and extended family. His children wish to thank the exceptional care staff at William Place Lindsay, the dialysis units in Scarborough and Peterborough and the Emergency and Palliative teams at Ross Memorial Hospital for their excellent care leading up to his final days. At Steve’s request cremation has already taken place and no funeral services are planned.
