Stephen Glen Gilmore 19682021

Stephen Glen Gilmore
1968-2021
Stephen Glenn Gilmore of Moncton, NB
passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the
age of 52. He was a son of John and Jean (Killam) Gilmore.
Stephen was born in Charlottetown, P E I and spent his early
years there until the Gilmore family of eight moved to
Moncton.
He grew up in a home with many pets and he was particularly
fond of cats.
In Stephen’s early adult years he
was very helpful in the family’s Magnetic Hill Campground.
One of his pleasures, as a young man, was to climb the tower at Lutes
Mountain, and to sit back and watch the stars for hours. He said it
gave him such a peaceful feeling.
Stephen joined the
Military as an Ordinary Seaman and was training to be an Electronician
when he injured his back. He had unsuccessful back surgery in
Montreal. After his back surgery, it became necessary to end his
Military career. He had a great sense of pride in his Military career.
He was proud to have had the opportunity to serve.
After
leaving the Military, Stephen became more interested in studying to
improve his computer knowledge, He continued to work with computers
and later became involved with work at Elmwood Cemetery where his
computer skills and kind heart were appreciated.
Stephen
was an avid Historian of Army memorabilia which was inspired by his
Grandfather’s lengthy Army career including both world wars
and especially during the time when his Grandfather served as an Army
Major.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sisters,
Laura Lee Burke (Tom) of Albert Mines, Bonnie Keith (Brian) of
Moncton, Jennifer Taylor (Michael) of Riverglade; brother, James
Gilmore (Michelle) of Steeves Settlement.
Stephen was predeceased by a brother, John (Jack)
Gilmore.
In honor of Stephen, services and interment were held at
Horsman cemetery.
The family would like to thank Pastor Dale Thistle of the
Lutes Mountain Church of The Nazarene for his compassionate care
during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Tuttles
Funeral Home for the kindness and understanding shown to the family
members when it was most needed by all of us.
Donations in Stephen’s memory made to the SPCA or Friends of
the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the
