With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the death of Stanley George Marshall. Stanley passed away at the age of 94 in Newmarket, Ontario on January 19, 2021. He was born in Ituna, Saskatchewan, one of a family of ten, and grew up on his family’s farm. In his late teens, he moved to Toronto and began a brief courtship with the love of his life, Anne. They married in Orillia, Ontario on August 4, 1951 and enjoyed a 69 year long marriage together. During their marriage, Stanley built three different homes for his ever-growing family.
He was an extraordinary father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved family gatherings and welcomed all guests with a wonderful sense of humour that always kept us entertained. Stanley was a physically active man and was always up for a good arm wrestle. He was extremely talented and always had multiple activities on the go like organic gardening, tree pruning, furniture building, and bowling. Stanley was also a very faithful and caring man who volunteered for many years at his church.
Stanley is survived by his wife Anne; his sons Rick and Brian; daughter Carrie and her husband Kelly; and daughter Nancy. He was the cherished grandfather of Matthew and his wife Dawn, John Paul and his wife Jessica, Megan, Christopher, Jeremy, Kathryn, Michael and Neil; and a loving great grandfather to Westin, Lacey, Jordyn and Juliet. He leaves behind his beloved siblings Sophie Obuch, Emily and her husband Ron Graham, and his many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Stanley Marshall was our shining star, bringing us together, loving us unconditionally. We will remember him for his brilliant wit, caring nature, and hopeful spirit.
A private service will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be planned for at a later date.
