Sophie Einhorn nee Kepper March 18th 1935 July 15th 2021

At Bluewater Health Palliative Care, after a brief but brave battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our amazing Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Sophie Einhorn (nee Kepper) on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
Sophie was the beloved wife of the late William Jack (Bill) (1986). Beloved Mother of Steven, Bob (Suann) (2018), Jim (2006), David (Cindy), Kathy Stevens (Chuck) and Bill (Sue) all of Sarnia. Loving Grandma Horn of Paul Einhorn, Rachael & Jessie Allard, Christopher, Corey, Dillon, Ryan and Tara Einhorn, Jason and Breanne Einhorn, Danielle Mason (Denis), Kimberly Stevens (Justin Bubola), Curtis Castle (Stephanie), Chrissy Robertson (Shane). Special Great Grandma Horn (GG Horn) to Riley Einhorn, Nathan & Alexa Einhorn, Everett & Eddie Mason, Mila Sophie Bubola, Josephine and Zachariah Castle, Mackenzie and Emily Robertson. Very special Aunt to Elaine Berry (Dave).
Sophie is survived by her sister Stephanie Thompson (Chuck) of St. Catharines, sister-in-law Anna Bida of Sarnia, Kathy & Walter Einhorn of Alabama, Rosie Wasylenka & Bernie Einhorn of Saskatoon, John Einhorn of British Columbia, and many nieces and nephews.
Pre-deceased by her parents William and Ruth Kepper, and father and mother in-law Michael and Michelina Einhorn, her brother Walter Ewasuik and sister in-law Betty Ewasuik, brother Adam Kepper, sisters Irene Pirrochi, Pauline McCardy and Jane Rousseau and brother in law, Walter Bida.
Sophie was employed by the Lambton County Board of Education for over 35 years where she worked as a custodian primarily at Landsdowne and Hanna Memorial School. She retired in 1995. She captured the hearts of many school staff with her humour and wit. Sophie enjoyed her bowling and golf, but mostly loved spending time with her family, and of course her furry friend, Zoey.
The family would like to thank Dr. Uppal, and her staff Tammy and Jennifer, for their endless compassion and dedicated care throughout many years. We would also like to thank the wonderful nurses in the palliative care unit who provided Mom with the best comfort and compassion during her short stay there.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, those who wish to attend must each RSVP with a time to attend the visitation: signup.com/go/UXWuyJz. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or the local branch of the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques mailed to the funeral home or made online, please).
SHE IS GONE
You can shed tears that she is gone,
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she’d want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sophie Einhorn nee Kepper March 18th 1935 July 15th 2021..

  1. So very sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. She was such a wonderful and fun lady. Last time I talked to her, she had called to talk when dad (Wilf) passed away. Considering the circumstances, we had a good chat and some laughs over some old memories. Although she is gone in body, enjoy reliving memories with and about her. You will feel better in time.
