Grateful for her life of service, the Sisters of Providence announce that Sister Margaret McGovern passed away at the age of 79 at Providence Centre, Edmonton, on August 24, 2021.
Sister Margaret was born in Camrose, Alberta in 1942 and entered the Sisters of Providence in 1960, going on to serve the people of Western Canada and the Yukon in various ministries. She was known for her dedication and faithfulness.
Sister Margaret’s loss is mourned by the Sisters of Providence, her step- sister Gloria Boyle, brother-in-law Nick Krawchuck, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John Joseph McGovern and Nelda (Nellie) Stephen; and her sister Johanne Krawchuck.
The Sisters of Providence appreciate the loving care given to Sister Margaret by the nursing staff at Providence Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the works of the Sisters of Providence are welcome.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic all services will be private. Monsignor J. Hamilton will celebrate the Funeral Mass in the Providence Centre Chapel, Edmonton. Burial will follow in the Providence Sisters’ Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta.
