After months of doctors not knowing what was wrong, we finally got a diagnosis of Cancer. Doctors said your heart would not handle Chemo Therapy and gave you approximately 3 months to live. We prayed so much for a miracle! But after almost 2 months later God knew, God saw how tired you were, God knew the pain you were in. God took you in his loving arms and you faced the pain with courage and strength till the very end. We know you tried to stay with us, but God freed you from your pain and gave you rest and peace. Our hearts are broken, but we know that heaven has another beautiful Angel, an Angel that will be looking down on us and protecting us. Our family is broken and will never be the same, but as God calls on us one by one we will all be reunited once again. Always in our hearts, rest peacefully Mama, Vavo, Avosinha, a Minha Querida Muhler.

Silvana was born August 20th, 1934 in a little town called Relva on an island Sao Miguel in the Azores. At the tender age of 18 years old her mother had passed and found herself taking care of the household, taking the roll of caregiver to her two brothers and father. Two years later she fell in love with her soulmate, the love of her life Gilberto. 4 years engaged before marrying, she wanted to make sure her brothers were taken care of. Gilberto loved her enough to wait to marry; she took as long as she needed. They married Jan 25th, 1959 and had 3 amazing children. She devoted her life to her children, to her family. In 1969 she found herself alone raising 3 children as her husband came to Canada to find citizenship in order to bring them over. In 1974 the family was reunited and took residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Silvana was employed at the International Inn, she worked in the kitchen. She made sure to work nights so she can be there for her grandchildren as her daughter and son in law worked days. Throughout her whole life it was always a selfless act, always there for her family. She loved to crochet, loved going to the lake, loved baking her corn bread and she was very known for baking her famous Massa Cevada (Portuguese sweetbread) which was loved by all! She loved to give her Massa Cevada on special occasions to her neighbors, her friends and her family.
