Shirly, also known to many as “Momma Smurf” departed her loving family on November 11, 2021. Shirly was born in Prince George on November 22,1951 to Alfred Rathbone and Laura Stockman. Shirly was a devoted wife for 47 years to her husband Michael until his passing in 2016. She was mother to: Crystal Wheelhouse (Kevin) and Dawn Wheelhouse, and countless others she had “adopted” throughout her lifetime. Grandma Go-Go to: Terry Wheelhouse, Timothy Dubrule (Wheelhouse), and Amber McNeice and Great-Grandma Go-Go to: Serena, Aviendha, Michael, and 1 more yet to be determined still on the way! Shirly met her husband and soul mate at 16 and spent her lifetime being a housewife and mother. She worked doing customer service and cashier jobs to help with the changing times and when it became necessary. Her laughter was “contagious and could be heard across a building.” She had the ability to see the best in every situation, to see rainbows in the storms. And her sense of humor knew no bounds and had “no filter”. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by friends and family.
