Obituary of Shirley Carrington (nee Deer)
CARRINGTON, Shirley (née Deer)- Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at Terrace Lodge, Aylmer on Friday, May 28, 2021, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert G. “Scott” Carrington (2000). Shirley and her husband resided in St. Thomas and Aylmer for many years. Dearly loved mother of Sharon O’Neill (late David) of St. Thomas, Robert “Bob” Carrington (Jan) of Port Stanley, and the late Douglas Carrington (Brenda of Aylmer). She was proud of her grandchildren, Rob Carrington, Tanya Hoover (John), Scott Carrington, the late Heather Carrington, and her step-grandchildren, Maureen Carlyle, and J. Van Johnston (Peggy Gray). Also survived by 3 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Shirley was the sister of the late Marjorie Batty (late Robert “Bob”) and the late Robert “Bob” Deer (late Em). Born in St. Thomas, ON, January 1, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Nellie (née Skelcher) Deer. Shirley was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Thomas. A private family graveside service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. If you wish to make a donation in Shirley’s memory, please consider St. Andrew’s United Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
