Obituary of Shirley Bond
BOND, Shirley peacefully with family by her side at Gateway Haven Nursing Home Saturday morning July 31, 2021. Our Mother will be forever loved and in the minds of her children Sally of Toronto, Joel of Mississauga, Jeffrey (Colleen) of Oliphant and Johnny Scott of Brampton. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Jason (Mallory), James, Zoe and Janice and remembered by her nieces and nephew. Dear sister in-law of Helen Smith and lifelong treasured friend of Margery Cranford and Gord Barnard. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Jim (1986), brother Jack (2014) and parents Frankie (1991) and Lorne Smith (1974).
Our Mother grew up in Mount Forest, graduated from the University of Toronto and raised her family with husband Jim in Port Credit. Mum instilled a love of being on the water to her children at home in Port Credit and at our Grandparent’s island cottage in Oliphant. Over the years, Shirley enjoyed her time spent with her bridge club in Orchard Heights and her Toronto craft group raising money for ‘hearing’ guide dogs. She loved beautiful things and cherished flowers, birds and Lake Huron sunsets.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Gateway Haven Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Tuesday, August 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All those wishing to attend must RSVP through Shirley’s page on the funeral home website. Masks must be worn and social distancing respected. Interment Balsam Grove Cemetery, Oliphant at a later date.
Expressions of remembrance to Friends of Gateway or the Peel Cheshire Home in Brampton would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Shirley
Bond 1925 2021..
Death notice for the town of: Wiarton, Province: Ontario
My deepest sympathy to Shirley’s family. She was a dear friend to my Dad for many years, first as teenagers in Mount Forest before the war and later, meeting up again in their senior years. Dad cherished times spent with Shirl.
Two weeks ago, Dad, Gord Barnard passed away in Ottawa at the Rideau Perley Veterans Centre.
