Shirley Pearl Marie Sherman-Brittain 19532021

Shirley “Pearl” Marie Sherman-Brittain
1953-2021
Shirley “Pearl” Marie Sherman-Brittain – 67, passed
away on Friday, April 30, 2021 surrounded by her daughters and
son-in-law. Many will remember her as the friendly lady from Sobeys
who knew everything about and genuinely cared for her customers. She
was that, and so much more. A free spirit, nothing could stop her once
she made up her mind. As a young girl, even when grounded, Shirley
would tell her parents “I’m going to the dance Saturday
night at the Fire Hall, and you can’t stop me.” Her
whimsical and child-like sense of wonder made her believe anything was
possible. She saw the best in everyone and everything. Family was a
cornerstone of Shirley’s life, and she was intentional in
ensuring her family felt loved. She had fond memories of growing up on
Bains Road in Canning, surrounded by family. She was close with her
siblings, Eugene, Gloria, and Robert, and loved getting together for
holidays and summer gatherings. Everywhere she took her daughters, she
would point out another cousin or relative. It was a source of pride
to have such a large family that was so close and connected. Shirley
had a unique ability to cultivate deep friendships with people
regardless of distance or length of time she had known them. She saw
her friends as family, and somehow found time to have numerous
“best friends”. She looked forward to spontaneous road trips
and overnights with her girls at cottages and beaches and of course,
endless games of rummy. Even though she was a little scared of the
water, she always loved being near lakes and the ocean. Her daughters,
Anastasia and Katrina, are thankful to have received her sense of
silliness and spontaneity. Along with her smile, laughter and witty
one-liners, they fondly remember her singing and dancing with them,
and piling into the car for long days at the beach – her favorite
place to be. Everyone will remember her as a ray of sunshine, and we
mourn the loss of this brilliant light that faded all too soon. There
will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Hope
for Wildlife. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online condolences and
